What is an Outdoor Living Consultant?
I was asked this question at my first BNI meeting today.
An Outdoor Living Consultant helps in the planning and maintaining of
your outdoor living space / garden.
But, what about Garden Designers?
Good question.
Now, can ask you these questions?
1. How many of you when thinking of doing your garden approach a nursery or a house contractor for landscaper / a garden designer contact?
2. How many of you use your house contractor to do your garden by showing them pictures from magazines / books?
3. Do you know exactly how you want to use your garden?
4. Is your spouse, children on the same page as you ie your dream garden?
5. What kind of concept?
6. How much you need to spend?
Now ...
When you walk in a Garden Designer office,
you are a sitting duck if you do not have a proper brief.
Here is how an Outdoor Living Consultant can assist you.
1st meeting,
The Outdoor Living Consultant will sit with you, your partner and children.
This is crucial to understand your current situation, wish list and family expectations.
Here are some questions commonly asked:
1. What is wrong with your current garden?
2. What is your dream garden?
3. How do you like to enjoy your garden?
4. What are the ages of people in the house?
5. How many times do you entertain?
6. How many people?
7. Who in the family is interested in gardening?
8. Do you have a gardener?
9. What types of plants or trees you like?
10. Do you like your neighbour?
11. Do you travel?
12. What is your budget?
Next,
The Outdoor Living Consultant will then recee the property.
A 2nd meeting will be arranged.
2nd Meeting,
The Outdoor Living Consultant will propose a written brief based on your wish list,
lifestyle and maintenance package.
This is your brief to the Garden Designer.
So, when you are ready to meet the Garden Designer,
1. You know what you want.
2. When you want.
3. Where is your outdoor room.
4. What to expect.
5. How much you need to spend.
6. An approximate time on how long the job will take.
7. What is your maintenance package like.
Now you see why it is important for you to see an Outdoor Living Consultant first
before approaching a Garden Designer.
I've helped my clients save $$$, stress and family is in harmony!
