The Tree of Hope

A few years ago, we had a 22 acres Biotech Organic Farm.
We planted papaya and organic vegetables for a commercial venture.
When we have an abundance harvest of papayas,
I used to give the excess to Old Folks Homes.
When we closed the Farm, the supply ended.
A few months later, one of the Home Care staff called me
and told me that the residents were asking for our papayas.
I told her that we have closed down the Farm
and were unable to supply any now.
One day, I was eating a really nice papaya
and the thought of germinating the seeds came about.
I called this project “The Tree of Hope”.

I germinated the seeds in poly bags, took them to the homes
and asked the residents to adopt one each and helped them to plant.
3 months down the line, the Home Care staff called me
and told me I had caused a ruckus!
I asked Why?
It seems that the Uncles and Aunties have been busy waking up early
to water their papaya trees!
7 months on, the Home Care staff called me and asked me to come to the home urgent.
The residents wanted me to be the first to savor the first ripped papaya.
No words can describe the feelings inside.
From that day on wards, everyday there are papayas in this Home
as there are more than 20 trees in their garden!
Gardening has given me the confidence to pass this hope to make
this world a better place to live!
